Edits and some Dexter
Taking a quick moment to clean up some photos before handing them off to the subjects. It’s nice to edit photos because I can also catch up on tv…that’s multitasking!
Photoshoot Sunday
In an effort to expand my photographic chops I’m happy to do studio portraits for a non-existent to minimal fee. Luckily some people have seen pics I’ve done for other people and they’re happy to trade me getting some practice for them getting some free pictures. A co-worker plus her boyfriend and daughters all came down to make it a whole famly affair. The girls are in middle school so they had fun with a couple different outfits and I spent an hour or so pretending like I know what I was doing. I agreed to do this before work buried me and I would have rescheduled except her daughters are only in town for this week. Now that I’m here it’s a nice momentary diversion from the ridiculous amount of work I’m doing right now. Post processing is -definitely- going to have to wait though
Tv and pic edits inturrupted by mail crashing
I was attempting to watch TV and edit some pictures but something had to deny me. I’m still not sure what but something freaked out my server pretty bad. Of course Murphy was in full effect and I slept through the 3 phone calls and 2 text messages I got about it. I was up insanely late last night followed by up -way- too early this morning so I had to split the night’s sleep into a couple shifts. This was my own silly fault. I knew I had to be up early and stayed out against the rational part of my brain. The new house room in Risque compelled me, though. What was I going to do? Anyway…where was I? I think I need another nap.
Afternoon photoshoot
I don’t get to use the studio as much as I want to but luckily I know people who are excited that I have one. At this point in my photo “career” I’m perfectly happy to trade photos for me getting to practice portraiture and lighting and so on. Serena is (as you can see) quite obviously pregnant and wanted to get some maternity pictures so to the studio we went! We also got some family photos and pics of her husband and step son. All in all, a good time for everyone. Now I just have to edit them.
The things we do for art…
The thing we’re doing for art is that I’ve taken about 20 pictures of John like this. What we were trying to do is get the flash to go off just as I clicked the button. If we had gotten one that worked we would have just put it up and it would look amazing. We didn’t though so I’m telling you that there are many more exactly like this.
John and I are at the studio doing some test shoots to get some baseline camera settings for both seamless white and black backgrounds. I have a shoot this weekend where we want to do those two things specifically and it’s good to know some good beginning points before you get the subject there. Makes them much more confident in you if you aren’t fumbling with lights and settings and looking confused half the time….like we were tonight. Something bad to say in front of your model “wow…I have no idea why this is working”.
Editing the weekend photospree
Yesterday it was all I could do to sit down and veg out to Indiana Jones. Tonight I’m trying to be more productive. I’ve got some pictures to scan and I have to unload the camera from the weekend SF trip. I also have unpacking to do and laundry and dinner at Samantha’s. Somehow I don’t think I’m getting all of my various things done tonight.
Picture editing galore
I’m back home from Manduh’s birthday weekend in LA and I have got an absolute crapload of pictures to go through. Between my own penchant for using the camera and me letting other people borrow the it and take pictures, I broke my previous record for sheer number of photos I have to edit. The previous record being the dog wedding from a few days ago. My volume is increasing. How long until the 16GB card no longer satisfies my needs?
