Friday in Vegas

Mike (you remember the cyborg, right?) is back in town for the weekend so we we’re doing a relative rarity and going to the strip for some happy hour action. We’ve landed at Book & Stage in the Cosmo but this time there’s no music. This is what I like about this bar, it’s very multi-functional. In a normal day like today it’s a nice open lounge where you can hang with your friends.

Goodbye Mike! (for a little while)

We’re giving Mike a mini going away party tonight. He is doing what most people can only dream of and taking 4 months off of work and going to live abroad. I’m don’t know exactly where he’s going and I’m not sure he does either but I think he’s hitting 5 continents. Africa and Antarctica seem to be off the list. For the rest it just seems like he’s going to bounce around and just have some good experiences and in the process make me unbelievably envious (or is it jealous, I can never get those straight) I have no ill will towards him I just really wish I could do what he’s doing. Bon voyage, dude.

Erdinger Heffe awesome in Venice

I just realized I have pictures that I took for 606 and mailed and they don’t appear to have gotten here. Lame. Have to save the debugging for later. We’ve done what we always do when we come to LA, went to Venice for some of god’s own beer. As you can see, Mike and Rachel enjoyed it. We’re in LA for less than 24 hours to see Emily Wells tonight and then I head to WordCamp San Francisco tomorrow. Emily Wells is a -phenomenal- musician and with some very creative technology manages to pack more than a string quartet into one tiny body. The only way to understand is to see it. Take a look at this video and enjoy.

California dreamin’

Our dear friends, Hope and Don, moved…nay, abandoned us and moved to LA. They made up for it though by inviting us out to LA for Halloween weekend for what could loosely be called a housewarming. More specifically it’s hanging out and drinking beer on their new back porch, playing with the dog and keeping an eye out for their wild yard rabbit, Mikey.

Mac and cheese!

Hope and Don are abandoning us so they’ve decided to throw one last Vegas BBQ at their house. Hope made her famous mac ‘n cheese and it was awesome as always. We’re going to miss those two but time moves on and your friends move away. We’ll just have to visit them regularly in LA and they will also have to come back regularly to us. Who doesn’t want to visit Vegas, right? Living here is awesome in that respect.

The weekend is here

This has been a long week. Not really hard or stressful, just long. I haven’t been to PT’s for a long time so when Hawkins asked if I wanted to grab a beer after work, it sounded like an excellent idea. At some point Mike decided to join us too and I managed to snap them both for the diaries. I know what you’re thinking but, sorry ladies, these guys are taken.
