Matt and Shannon, she’s special
Matt and Shannon are totally inconsiderate. I can’t come up with a good portmanteau of their names at all. Mannon’s not bad, Shatt’s funny but too rude, Shant has promise but isn’t -that- good. As you can see, Shannon likes playing the pose for the camera game too. These two happy kids are in town just for the night as the first leg of their multi-day journey to the wilderness of Denver. Hey, people go where they go, who are we to judge? Ma and Samantha are here too as we all savor the delights of Macaroni Grill. All that’s missing is Club S and Manduh and it would have been a full boat!
Mmmm, pizza
Still hanging out in Pasadena and today we’re getting pizza. I can’t remember the name of this place and the sauce we got inadvertently had bell peppers. Even though I really, really, really hate bell peppers the pizza was still really good.
Lucille’s BBQ
Hawkins and I flew to Brea for a couple days to meet with some clients. I’m not sure why but it doesn’t feel like being in California. I keep thinking I’ve travelled much further than we have. I’m not a fan of eating at some restaurant I can eat at when I’m home but Lucille’s is pretty good. We’re going to see Micky and the Motorcars tonight up in Hollywood. It wasn’t our original plan but if we’re within a couple hours of Micky, Hawkins has to go see them. It’s pathological. I can’t really complain too much, I like them too. The funny thing is that we’re going to see them this weekend in Reno as well but that didn’t seem to make a difference. I hear The Mint is a pretty cool club so I’m actually looking forward to it.
New tappas
I’ve begged Ma to make me some more shirts so once we were done fabric shopping I decided I’d buy her dinner. We look across the parking lot and in the distance was Match restaurant. Below the name was tappas and karaoke. I was immediately intrigued and Ma likes some good tappas and sangria so dinner plans were born.
Best decision we ever made.
It was amazing. Some classic tappas, some asian fusion tappas, some sangria and it was all wonderful. They also have Korean BBQ but we didn’t sample that part. Nor did we try the karaoke but I will be back for that, mark my words. I’ll also come back for the attractive waitresses. Tattoos, colored hair, short skirts…not a one of those is a bad thing. ‘d never go to a restaurant strictly for the waitresses but they make a nice bonus to a place we already like. I specifically didn’t get a picture of one of them just to make Matt mad. Muhahahaha!
Burger time
Minus the Bear is playing at HoB and though I’ve never heard of them I trust Mike to know if I’d like a band or not so I came on out on a whim. Going to a concert requires some fuel and in this case that fuel is being supplied in the form of burgers and beer at the Burger Bar in the Mandalay Bay. The night’s going great and the best parts haven’t even started yet!
Smoke and frame!
It’s the roommates birthday so we’ve ventured to Osaka, one of my favorite restaurants in town. I like their flexibility. Teppanyaki or sushi, they got it all.
Going to eat garlic till it leaks out of me
I’m in San Francisco this weekend for WordCamp San Francisco. I o to a lot of WordCamps but this is the big bad voodoo daddy of WordCamp. The one thrown by the people in charge of WordPress itself. It should be some good talks but the better part is meeting all the good people. Part of that starts tonight at the Stinking Rose. I love garlic and this is one of my favorite places because every single thing has garlic in it. Including the vodka and ice cream. God I love this restaurant.
