Shocking!
People are in need of a happy hour. Since the person planning it is Hope, happy hour is at Blue Martini. It isn’t original but at times, it does seem like our version of Cheers…kind of. OK not really. Mostly it’s nearby. It has newly installed fire though and that’s very cool.
Goodbye Mike! (for a little while)
We’re giving Mike a mini going away party tonight. He is doing what most people can only dream of and taking 4 months off of work and going to live abroad. I’m don’t know exactly where he’s going and I’m not sure he does either but I think he’s hitting 5 continents. Africa and Antarctica seem to be off the list. For the rest it just seems like he’s going to bounce around and just have some good experiences and in the process make me unbelievably envious (or is it jealous, I can never get those straight) I have no ill will towards him I just really wish I could do what he’s doing. Bon voyage, dude.
Yeah I know. I’m surprised too
I’m hanging out at Blue Martini with Matt and his guuurrrrrrlfriend. Something about this makes the 12 year old in me come out. Matt and Beth, sittin’ in a tree…
There’s something wrong with me. I just can’t help it.
Luckily Beth is awesome. It’s nice when sibs have significant others that you can hang out with. Not that it’s been otherwise with us but I’ve heard horror stories and had plenty of friends with ones I couldn’t stand.
Blue Martini pre-Fremont fun
It’s the weekend! I’m going to Fremont later for some dinner, poker and a downtown pub crawl for a birthday but there was 3 hours between work and that and I -hate- going home and then going back out again. Luckily Hope had suggested a Blue Martini evening and it fits perfectly with those plans.
Quick congratulations to the new promotions
After a period of adjustment following our previous bosses departure it’s time to officially adjust to his passage. Duties got moved, titles got assigned and responsibility and accountability are finally one in the same for the people who got the promotions. Maybe I’ve been watching too much “Band of Brothers” but it’s been weird not having it and is now much nicer to have clear lines and chains of command. To celebrate this happy occasion we have ventured to our favorite after work place, the venerable Blue Martini. I don’t know what’s going on but it is -dead- today. There is practically no one here. I’m not exactly sure why. Makes me wonder what I’ve missed. Regardless, we’re all here and that’s the important part.
I gotta say I’m not super happy with the new camera in this situation. We’ll keep the tests going but I’m not sure this is better than any of my other Blue Martini pictures.
One of these things is not like the other
What went through my head as I wrote that subject line was that Matt wasn’t asian. Only later did it occur to me that Matt was also the only one in the picture who was, in fact, male. Either way, it’s him that’s not like the rest. We’re getting ready to head over to Bar Louis for a slightly different venue for Beer & Blog. I think we all love the Freakin’ Frog but it isn’t very conducive to easy conversation. It involves lots of yelling, usually. I guess we’ll see what the new location is like. If it doesn’t work, back to Freakin’ Frog we will go.
