One of the best things about SLC

Time for more WordCamp fun! This time we’re in Salt Lake City and I told Hawkins that I would come to this WordCamp on one condition and that was that we got to go to The Pie which is this fantastic pizza place up by the university. I’m sure it’s going to be 2 days of fun WordCamp goodness but I could go home happy right now after our meat pizza and cheese pull-apart.

Don’t judge me

I, after hearing Amanda Palmer Performs The Popular Hits Of Radiohead On Her Magical Ukulele, got a bee in my bonnet about learning to play the ukulele. Apparently I’m not the only one. The uke is experiencing a bit of a renaissance right now as you cana see by this picture of the Ukulele Club of Las Vegas. It’s not just here. Take a look at youtube and there’s thousands of ukulele videos. I’ve wanted to learn some sort of a stringed instrument for a couple years now and I’m glad I’m finally giving it a shot. It’s a little more complicated than my old days of playing brass instruments. Brass is simple in comparison. There’s only 3 keys in a relatively limited configuration to make all the notes you want. This requires 2 hands and a lot of fingers and strumming possibly while singing. We’ll see if my coordination holds up. Thus far I’m having a great time trying it out.

So many books

You know you have too many books when have 7 bags of them on the floor and it doesn’t even look like you made a dent getting rid of any. I’m going to keep at it though. I have momentum now. Scorched earth, baby!
