You show ‘em how to make a comic movie, Favreau
I’m sitting at home re-watching a modern day classic. “Iron Man” is such an awesome comic book movie and I just can’t believe my friend Donald hasn’t seen it. I couldn’t abide that and so, even though I watched it about a week ago, we’re watching it again.
Tv and pic edits inturrupted by mail crashing
I was attempting to watch TV and edit some pictures but something had to deny me. I’m still not sure what but something freaked out my server pretty bad. Of course Murphy was in full effect and I slept through the 3 phone calls and 2 text messages I got about it. I was up insanely late last night followed by up -way- too early this morning so I had to split the night’s sleep into a couple shifts. This was my own silly fault. I knew I had to be up early and stayed out against the rational part of my brain. The new house room in Risque compelled me, though. What was I going to do? Anyway…where was I? I think I need another nap.
The Sounds! Oh yeah, and No Doubt
I’ll be honest…I’m not the world’s biggest No Doubt fan. I’m not even on the chart. I enjoyed their music but I was never one of those people who had a period where life was meaningless and awful and the only thing getting you through the day was “Tragic Kingdom”. There are, however, a whole lot of people here who -do- fit that category, today. People with signs, photos and scrapbooks, not to mention a whole lot of tears. Some of those people may be in my party. The thing I’m most excited about was a total surprise to me. The Sounds are opening for No Doubt (along with Panic at the Disco but I don’t really care about them) and I -love- The Sounds. This night just turned from potentially cool to absolutely awesome unless a lot of things go wrong.
Update: All that being said, I am a much bigger fan today than I was before the concert. Say what you will about No Doubt they know how to put on one -hell- of a good show. I’m not sure I’ll listen to them any more than I already do but it’s 3 days later and I’m still singing the songs in my head.
Underworld!
I’m a longtime fan of Underworld but since they live in England and stuff and their music isn’t too popular in the US, I never got to see them. Tonight that changed because my awesome friend Nita, who pays more attention than I do, saw that they were coming and hipped me to the concert. I’m extremely glad she did because it is unbelievably awesome. Great crowd and a great venue, soundwise. I wish the new Joint wasn’t so big because we could definitely use another small venue along the lines of HoB but it still does the job really well. We’ll see how it does when this place is packed to the rafters tomorrow night when I come back for No Doubt.
Yes someone paid for alcohol with pennies
No, I’m not the one paying for alcohol with pennies. I made a quick stop off at the liquor store for some libations and dinner (dinner doesn’t come from the liquor store, it comes from the pizza place behind the liquor store). I didn’t see who it was, but someone who checked out before I did paid for alcohol with a pile of pennies. I looked at the pile and looked at the cashier and he told me the story but I told him at the end “the pile of pennies on the counter of the liquor store pretty much tells a whole story all by itself”. If you’re down to paying for alcohol with pennies you probably need a drink.
PS: Just for the curious the story was a guy comes in and says “I’m sorry but my girl left me and took the kid but before she left she cut up the credit cards and my debit card so I’m forced to pay you with the change jar.” See…that explanation wasn’t even necessary.
Gassy gas
Nothing exciting today. I’m gassing up the mobile and being pleasantly surprised that it’s under $3/gallon. Not -super- pleasant though seeing as this is still costing me plenty. I wonder if I could do a cash for clunkers thing and get a prius or something? I’m actually just on my way home right now from work. A bunch of us stayed after for a pow-wow. I think it went pretty well and I’m looking forward to the follow up later this week. Tonight, however, there’s just movies and photo editing in my future.
Such an awesome idea
I already read Max Brooks World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War and it was -amazing. I absolutely loved it (I think I talked about it at the time) and I recommended to just about everyone. Well, The Zombie Survival Guide is the book that led that led to that one. It’s like any other field guide except this one is training you for protection from something that will probably never happen. It’s still a very entertaining read but I wouldn’t recommend it nearly as strongly as “Word War Z”. If the title of this book makes you smile you’ll probably like it. If you first rolled your eyes, it’s probably not for you.
