Congratulations Paxton!

Paxton’s parents are having his graduation bbq today which I was happy to be invited to. Paxton would be the one in the middle of that picture being totally surrounded in a giant friends and family group hug. After 12 years of school he’s popped out the other side, hopefuly to forget his school years as thoroughly as the rest of us. I know those years are formative and helped shape who I’ve become I’m just glad they’re in the past. The distant, rapidly receding past. Which is really the wrong way to say that. I guess the nicest way of phrasing it is: congratulations on starting this, the next, much better chapter of your life.

PS: but laze about with intent and vigor for the rest of the summer. The next 3 months should be all about enjoying zip and squat in all of their glory.

Whoops, not 6:06

I was on the phone and stuck in some horrendous strip traffic right at 6:06 so I declined to drop all that and take a picture. I was directly in front of this place I’m in right now though so I’ll call it legit. I’m at Diablo’s Cantina on the lovely Vegas Strip for a fun, low key event. $5 margaritas and drafts and a bunch of interesting people from both in and out of town? I’m in. I don’t think the event’s going till 10PM when the go-go dancers start but it’s still a good time all around.

Macaroni Grill and Myya’s elbow

Ma, Club S and Cousin Des all met up at Macaroni Grill for a nice dinner with possibly one of the worst waitresses we’ve ever experienced. I’m not sure exactly what’s wrong with her besides her awful service but there’s something. At least the company and food made up for it and we’re all having a good time regardless.

Beer and Blog, still awesome!

I’ve had to miss the last couple weeks of Beer & Blog so it’s nice to get back to it. For all I knew there could have been some quiet revolution and the event could have been taken over by crazy (well, crazier) people. I’m happy to report that didn’t happen. You want to know what the best thing about Beer & Blog is? It’s on Thursday which means that tomorrow is Friday and that is indeed a special thing.

Giving this SpyOn Vegas thing a try

Spy On Vegas has these open bar events at various hot venues all over town which sounds intensely aweome, right? There’s a catch, of course. The free drinks are skyy vodka in your choice of a couple different mixers and they only happen from 6-9 on weekdays. Luckily for me, these limitations aren’t too onerous because vodka is awesome and I’m not too picky about what it’s mixed with, especially if it’s free. It’s kind of a fun way to see some of these clubs and locations that I wouldn’t otherwise probably go to. I know it’s not really the same as going to these venues on a real night but that’s a plus in my book.

Editing the weekend photospree

Yesterday it was all I could do to sit down and veg out to Indiana Jones. Tonight I’m trying to be more productive. I’ve got some pictures to scan and I have to unload the camera from the weekend SF trip. I also have unpacking to do and laundry and dinner at Samantha’s. Somehow I don’t think I’m getting all of my various things done tonight.

Will the franchise be embarrased?

I’ve been hearing an awful lot of negative things about “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull”. No one talks about how much of a bitch it is to type. We’re relatively early in the movie and already my suspension of disbelief is being stretched to uncomfortable levels. I know it’s Indiana Jones but c’mon. Just because you have CGI doesn’t mean you have to use it to ridiculous levels.
