Wow, lens flare

Taking pictures in the Freakin’ Frog is always a challenge because the light is so widely varied. Today we get a pretty serious amount of lens flare but it’s still a fun picture with Mikey and Linda Lou. Linda Lou has written a book “Bastard Husband: A Love Story” (Hopefuly I got that title right) which is working its way through the publication process right now. I’ve been waiting to read it for a while and I’m happy to say that any day now I’ll get to do so. You can find some excerpts on her site and be as excited as I am about its imminent release. Linda is one of those insanely talented people that I’m just in awe of. She writes, does stand up comedy, has a podcast and manages a catwalk prowl, just walking from place to place, with what appears to be effortless ease. I’m always amazed at the variety of people I’ve managed to meet though work and Linda Lou personifies that in every way.

TV…Don’t bother me

I’m home tonight and have nothing on the agenda but sitting here, watching this episode of “Reaper” and then popping in a movie. If that’s all I accomplish between now and bedtime it will be an evening well spent.

Back together and havin’ fun

Every time I see these two that line from “Stripes” runs through my head

Are either of you gay?
(pause) No…but we’re willing to try.

What you can’t see very well in this picture is that Matt is sporting a full on beard. I don’t get it but it seems to be working for him. We’re having a bros night out with some dinner at Yardhouse and going to see “Crank 2″ afterwards. I’m under no illusions that this movie is going to be “good” but as long as it’s at least along the same vein as the original “Crank” I’ll be happy.

Bellagio flowerness

I haven’t been to the Bellagio in quite a while but since we just had an epic Paris Buffet champagne brunch, we needed a little exercise and it looked like a walk to watch the fountain and see the flowers would count as a little exercise. Very little exercise but hey, it’s better than going directly home and taking a Thanksgiving style nap on the couch.

To be honest this picture was taken before 6:06 but we were at the Bellagio until 5 and then I went home and took a nap. The 606 alarm woke me up but I didn’t really want to take a picture of the ceiling in my bedroom. This whole week I’ve been having to play a little fast and loose with the 6:06PM definition but I’ll try to be better next week.

DoubleDown Supplemental

I was stuck in the car at 6:06 today and I forgot to get a picture but many hours later I found myself at the Double Down, utilizing the restroom, and class joint that it is I find myself staring at this on the wall so I decided to share with all of you. You’re welcome.

Another blogging Thursday

Thursday at The Freakin’ Frog is becoming quite the regular event. It’s nice to have something to look forward to other than just the weekend. Tonight was special because Lori brought cupcakes from RetroBakery. Frankly, RetroBakery puts the Cupcakery to shame (in both flavor and price) and AND they do full size cakes! The cupcakes in question were bacon maple and they were far better than they sound. Bacon in a cupcake just sounds wrong but it was so delicatly done the whole experience was like a pancake breakfast (but sweeter and better) in a cupcake. Unforunately the cupcakes were pretty much history by the time I got around to taking a picture tonight but luckily Mikey and Carmen, a couple of bloggers with a lot to say about just living in our fair city, were here to make the 606 picture interesting.

Cadillac Ranch. Something new!

Cadillac Ranch opened up last week in Town Center to much hoopla. The line was around the building on opening night so we declined to visit it. It’s directly between Blue Martini and Yardhouse and manages to split both their audiences. The waitresses wear (and wear very well) the exact same lace corsets that the Blue Martini waitresses do but they’re in red, not blue (buy your own, just like they do, from Fredrick’s of Hollywood). The food is -very- similar to the Yardhouse and, unfortunately, is also in the same price range. They have a couple really stand out drinks but other than that it’s standard bar fare. They have two real benefits that make them stand out 1) They don’t have the dress code that Blue Martini does which should keep it a little more low key and b) they have a mechanical bull. I can watch drunken mechanical bull rides but I don’t have to go to a country bar to do it? Count me in. (sorry Stoneys)
