Tv fun
Work is still being a bastard. In very unrelated ways, year to year, March generally sucks. I’m sure there’s a pattern or reason I just haven’t been able to really nail down what it is. In the meantime I’m going to watch a little “Burn Notice”, eat a little dinner and get back to some number crunching in a bit.
Yum Mexican food
I’m helping Lynn and Matt with some computer stuff. I like helping them because they tend to have relatively simple problems and they pay me in Mexican food or home cookin’. Both of these are viable payments in my book. Tonight it was Mexican food at Mexicano’s. This is a classic hole in the wall joint. Good food, good prices, variable service with a TV on the spanish news channel in the corner. Aaaah, it’s like my childhood all over again.
Lazy Sunday downtime
After preparing for, journeying to and recovering from Denver, as well as having company in town and one of the harshest work weeks ever, I need a day to do nothing. Today is that day. I have movies. I have popcorn. I have happiness.
Komol with Chris having best Thai food ever
Chris is in from out of town, visiting for the weekend. We’ll be taking a cullinary journey all over the city for the next couple days. Today we’re at Komol Kitchen which is, by far, my favorite Thai restaurant in town. This was the restaurant that taught me I could handle Thai food back in college. Mostly for a single thing which is their Thom Ka Ghai (chicken/mushroom/coconut milk/curry) soup. I have ordered that soup at every Thai place I’ve ever been and it’s just better here. The rest of the food is good but there’s tons of good Thai places. Komol Kitchen’s soup is the biggest reason I come here.
Photo editing
So nice to be home editing photos. This the same thing I did yesterday and it’s just as cool today as it was then.
Sushi with Ma and friends
I called Ma up to see if she wanted dinner and imagine my suprise when she recommended a sushi place with some of her work friends which shall rename nameless because I don’t know about their comfort level with the whole being on the Internet thing. Ta Ta Asian Bistro in Henderson has gone some good sushi and they carry my favorite Bohae Raspberry “Sake”. It’s not really sake since it’s Korean but, regardless, it’s yummy. Beware though (and apologies to Douglas Adams) drinking too much of it feels like getting your head smashed with a raspberry wrapped around a gold brick.
Only in UT, a gas station closed on Sunday
We’re on our way back to Vegas today and there hasn’t been a lot of stopping but we only have a day to get back so some picture taking was sacrificed. I had some trepidation about crossing Utah on a Sunday as I’ve done this before and it’s not a lot of fun. Burger King was open though so we got some dinner but then happened upon this gas station in Cedar City. At least the pumps were working but so much for thinking we were going to stock up on energy drinks and orange slices.
