Miles to go before I sleep

On our way home after a long and fun-packed weekend. Today was a little too fun-packed involving such activities as

  • digging the rental van out of the snow
  • installing snow chains
  • getting my sketchers soaking wet
  • freezing my nethers
  • buying and wearing a beanie to keep my brain from freezing

Even with all that it was a great time and now we are on the long journey back. Nothing like 6 hours in a car to remind me why I always fly. At least we have “To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar” which I’ve never seen, to pass the time. Actually, I’ve never seen it till we drove down, now that we’re driving back and have different people in the car we’re watching it again. It’s a good movie but I think I’ll grab a nap.

More hot tub fun. I’m seeing a pattern

Still in Mammoth, still having a good time. The only difference is that it started snowing last night which sucks because it kind of knocks down visibility which wrecks any landscape picture taking opportunities I was hoping for. Should be good for all the board people though. In the meantime, there’s a hot tub to keep the cold at bay.

Happy hot tub day from Mammoth, CA

Today we find ourselves way up in the Sierra Nevada mountains. Mammoth Lakes, CA to be specific. There’s been a yearly excursion that I normally miss because I don’t board or ski or anything but this time I was invited anyway and went as a snowboard groupie. While others are risking life and limb, hurtling down snowy inclines, I’ll be reading or taking photos and generally relaxing.

As you can see, everyone came back from the hill safe and sound and are enjoying a good soak in the hot tub to relax weary, rarely used muscles. I’m going to get back to it now, myself.

Welcome to Vegas

Cousin Des has moved to Vegas and to help welcome her and get her acclimated to the town we went downtown for St Patrick’s Day. Samantha and Heather made their outfits and were sporting holiday pride as you can see. The weirdest thing about tonight is that I’ve run into about a dozen people I know and weren’t expecting to see. I didn’t think I knew -that- many people in town. I haven’t been downtown in ages. It’s actually kind of cool. $1 roulette, cheap drinks, cheap food, it’s just like Vegas used to be. We even got a machine to spit out nickels into a bucket! How quaint.

Flickr browsing

Flickr makes it very convenient to do the holiday slideshow thing without a slide projector. Just when you thought it was safe, think again. People can still bore you to tears with photos of them in awesome places you didn’t go. I’m currently boring Donald with tales of the photo safari to Denver. Not the most exciting trip but we honestly did end up with some cool pictures.

Friday at the Blue Martini

PTs has thoroughly been replace by the Blue Martini in our hearts as the Friday night happy hour place. This is also part of the group going to Mammoth next weekend and we’re all very excited about it. That’s been pretty much the only topic of conversation tonight. Is it Thursday yet?

Another good Beer and Blog Las Vegas

Beer and Blog is fun as always. Got beer, got conversation, I’m good. Although, I’m a little too zoned to be my “super social” self today. I decided to be my “semi-social quieter” self. Which is better than my “anti-social, retreating to the gloom of my apartment” self. I like how this picture makes @mikeyvegas look like something out of a horror movie.
