A new road to Christian Bale?

Is it just me or is Jim Caviezel kind of a low rent Christian Bale? Everytime I see him in a preview I get excited for a sec and then realize it isn’t him. Nothing against Jim, it’s just that he hasn’t been in anything yet that makes him really stand out in my head. I really liked “Count of Monte Cristo” too and I am forever forgetting that he was the lead in it. I’m watching “Unknown” tonight which was a reasonable mystery, what-the-hell-is-going-on crime drama kind of movie. I’d say it wasn’t that good but I wasn’t paying as much attention as I should have been. I’ve been watching TV, playing with cameras, editing pictures, doing chainmail and researching WordPress stuff all week. I haven’t been doing all of those every night but each night has been at least 3 of those things. Playing fast and loose with your attention while watching TV is one thing but with a movie it’s a little more complicated. I gotta stick to just watching movies as a single task or, at most, doing chainmail.

So many buttons

OMG it’s been days since I said anything. I’m not sure what I’ve been doing but I certainly haven’t been posting pictures. I have, however, been taking pictures. I got a new camera and it’s been a whole lot of documentation reading and really, really boring technical pictures that I pretty much just keep deleting. After a few days of this though it’s working pretty well and I’m getting comfortable and it’s just about time to take it out for a real spin.

TVs back!

After taking the holidays off, TV is finally back to its regularly scheduled hilarity. Well, “30 Rock” and “My Name is Earl” is regularly scheduled hilarity, other show are just back to their regular schedules. I’m up to my elbows in chainmail tonight so a TV watching I will go. Once I’m done with what I’m working on I’m going to retire all my stainless steel rings. I’ve done too much work using aluminum rings lately and my hands are all used to the ease of it.

Animated awesome

“Batman: Gotham Knight” is a multi-story feature length animated thing that takes place between “Batman Begins” and “Dark Knight”. Each segment is written and animated by someone different and the entire thing is -really- well done. The whole thing is toned towards the darker, better side of Batman. Don’s over so we -could- have pulled out one of the Christopher Lambert movies but we decided to try something else tonight. The Lambert-athon isn’t going anywhere.

Guess who came back! (for a week)

Pennie’s back in town for her bi-monthly-ish trip to Vegas. Unfortunately I can’t really hang out tonight because I have a vendor dinner to get to. I’m trying to remember and I’m pretty sure this is my first real official vendor sponsored dinner. It’s at the Venetian which means it should be pretty cool. I certainly have no problem talking about our company or our implementation of the product we puchased from them but I’m still just a tad nervous about the whole thing. Let’s all hope I don’t say anything embarrassing.

This movie is looking up

I’m sitting here finishing some chainmail and watching “Eagle Eye”. I’m not sure but even though I said differently in the title, not even Rosario Dawson is going to save this one. At least the computer stuff is so completely outside plausible it makes me thing it must be in the future or something. Almost like “Minority Report” or something. Not that this movie is that good, mind you. It’s not like I’m really paying attention anyway so I can’t complain. It’s a good movie to “watch” while doing some project. I’ll give it that.

WordcampLV day 1!

Nothing like losing an entire posts words to the vagaries of the submit button. Once more into the breech

Pictured here are geeeek’s lovely wife Chris and Doug AKA Apakuni. I don’t think he’s ever been on here before but I’ll defer to Manduh’s memory if she remembers. The fun thing about this picture is that 2 seconds after I snapped the shutter, Doug accidentally spit in her hair. Like I always say, spit happens. Oh, bite me. It’s my blog I get to make all the stupid jokes I want.

The actual event I’m at is Wordcamp Las Vegas. The first day has just wrapped up and we’re hanging at the after party in the Irish pub downstairs from the conference. Geeeek organized the entire thing and as I am his friend and you rope your friends into all kinds of things when you need to, I am photographing the event. I’m not really a professional photographer but he knows that so he knows what he’s getting himself into. If you’re interested you can go see the results of both Day 1 and Day 2. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a Guinness to enjoy.
