Tappas bar and lounge
07.29.2008
There’s a new tappas place called R.E. Tappas Kitchen and Lounge which is much closer to my house than my current favorite which is Firefly. So far, it’s really good. Firefly probably has a better wine selection but if you’re not into the wine and just want standard booze with your tappas, this is definitely the place to go. My problem with tappas is that it’s easy to go overboard. Feta/spinach fries, brie baked in filo dough, empanadas, mac n’ cheese w/ bacon…all wonderful, and I only had a bite or so of each but all pretty much bad for you. The only arguably healthy thing we had was the pepper seared ahi and even it had some sort of a sauce with it that, though fantastic and spicy, was just too creamy to be anything but bad for me. Ah well, into each life some calories must fall. Keeping those days to a minimum is what it’s all about.

Is this the place down by Silverado Ranch Blvd?
I have been hoping to try it, nay any tappas places for that matter..
It’s really good. Tappas is pretty fun in general. Even for a couple people. It’s just little dishes of food built for sharing. Much like sushi.
Chris, Marcia and I went to Louis’ Fish Camp (right outside Rave Motion Pictures) last night after seeing Step Brothers. There food was pretty tasty. The service was a bit slow as they only had 3 servers. Our waitress apologized at least 100 times. She made me laugh when she brought our bill and says, “I didn’t charge you for the iced tea.” yeah, 2 of us had water, Marcia had iced tea. If she thought she was doing a huge favor, I don’t know. Whatever. I’d still go back.
As for Tappas, I’ll leave that to you adventurous types.
Todd, wait, you’re supposed to SHARE sushi?? That concept is completely foreign to me…
Although the possibilities of a tappas Venn diagram have me convulsing with delight.
geeeek, I loved that little anecdote, your waitress really went above and beyond; I guess you should be thankful she didn’t drop your food on the floor and punch you in the face.
I’ve heard just about nothing but mediocre about the fish camp. I don’t think I’ll be visiting it
One time I went to a restaurant and the waiter kept apologizing for the wait every time he came to our table. I actually hadn’t noticed any type of wait or slowness until he kept apologizing then I started noticing and became annoyed.
a firefly tapas is opening on serene & spencer. can’t wait to try it!!
