Bad news comes in threes

We started out the week with Justin telling me that in a month, he’s moving to some mid-western state no one cares about. The week kinda went downhill after that. Evidently Jessi has already made the move and has found a really great job doing exactly what she dreams of…pfft. I’m not even going to get into why the rest of the week was crap. Suffice it to say that a Friday, after work, trip to the Blue Martini was called for and welcomed by all.

PS: The title of this post also refers to the fact that no good can come of having 3 “blue martinis”. 1 to get you started, 2 to get to a happy place, 3 is just going to get you to end up somewhere weird. If you find yourself at this fine establishment, keep that in mind.

Ghetto fab photography studio

I have the photo gear set up because Justin wanted to take some cool, motion blurred, yo-yo, long exposure pictures. That part of the night failed horribly. Luckily when there are geeks involved there is experimentation and we switched gears and ended up with some really excellent pictures. I have to give credit to Justin. I was ready to throw in the towel and he had just one more idea to try and it turned out beautifully. It’s things like this that make me keep reading and trying things with the camera. I never know what’s going to happen or what I’ll discover. This is why I keep reading things like the Strobist Blog and the Strobist Flickr group. These sites are nothing but people experimenting with cheap photography lighting and coming up with some of the most interesting photos I’ve ever seen. Totally on the cheap too. This is the sort of site I love. They take photography out of the hands of the elite and put it into the hands of everyone and the creativity of these people, who have to do so much with so little, really shines through. If you want to see some really awesome photographic eye candy, take a look at either of those links. You won’t be disappointed.

Hooray!

I’m so happy for…commercials of upcoming DVDs. I can’t -wait- until The new “Futurama” DVD comes out. Even if it isn’t nearly as good as the first one, I’m just glad they’re continuing the series in one way or another.

Happy Birthday Devin!

‘Twas an excellent day for a pool party. Thanks to Devin for being born on this day and allowing us this opportunity to celebrate the day of his birth by drinking Miller Lite from the can and swimming around in a pool.

Commercials suck, the movie better not

I’m so tired of seeing commercials at the movies. I’m at “The Happening”. It has gotten some pretty dismal reviews but I wanted to check it out anyway because people give M. Night a bad rap but I still generally like his movies. I’m not so sure about this one though. I haven’t decided yet but I may also go to “The Incredible Hulk” after this. It depends on how depressingly bad this movie is. I may just have to go home and cry about it. Or I may have to watch something else to get the bad taste out of my mouth…guess we’ll see.

Adam and the elusive Myya?

Manduh is acting as a Myya placeholder I guess. The fun part is watching Adam turn various shades of pink. You wouldn’t believe the amount of giggling that’s going on in this picture. Matt and Manduh are here for the weekend to pack up all Matt’s junk and drive it to LA. Well, Pasadena anyway. He finally got his own place and no longer has to live on Manduh’s floor. The fun part about all this is that Matt got helpers to load and unload the truck so, for the first time ever, I didn’t have to lift anything. It was awesome. Best move ever.

Worst Vegas pic ever

I’ll leave all the glamorous Vegas pics to other people. I’ll take the pictures they don’t. I’m almost in front of the Fashion Show Mall but not quite. If I was actually in front of it I would have ended up with a better picture. As it is, look at some traffic barriers and construction thingers. I’ve been at a conference all day and I am beat. You wouldn’t think that sitting around and listening to people talk all day would be tiring, but it is. I’m going to go home and turn my brain of for a while.
