Welcome to Planet Hollywood
10.20.2007
The roommate and I needed to get out of the house so we ventured forth to the entertainment wonderland that is Las Vegas. We decided to check out Planet Hollywood, otherwise known as ph. It’s the stupidest name ever but not a bad casino/shopping thing. They also have about a jillion restaurants in here for just about all your dining needs. We hit up the Oyster and Wine bar but I also want to check out Cheese Burger of Las Vegas and The Earl of Sandwich which proposes to be the best sandwich ever. I’ll be the judge of that.

I didn’t know those still existed
Evidently they closed over 100 restaurants with the exception of the Vegas branch and then bought a casino. I’m not sure how that works. Evidently their grand opening is in November…which I -really- don’t get since they’ve been open for ages already.
Typical of most casinos, this way they work out all the kinks.
So it i called /f/? “Hey let’s go to /f/ tonight!” Yeah not sure that works.
I even tried squinting my easy to work out what Manduh was talking about
It is called ph which is pronounced “f” but in speech/phonics you put sounds in between slashes (gh, ph, f could all be pronounced /f/)
Yeah, we went around all night calling it Fff.
“Dude, Fff, is awesome”
“I wish all casinos had go-go dancers like Fff”
“Do you suppose Fff has better restaurants than Tee or Ip?”
I remember some of that crap from my linguistics class, but mostly I blocked it out. My teacher was horrible, and we all called her the Hopi-Nazi.
I understood what Mandy was talking about. Maybe it the “P-H” like the “PCH” in so cal. You know how those people like to abbrev.
Wouldn’t you say the letters and not the sound??
That is what he is saying that it is called “p-h” not “f”
Treasure Island kinda rebranded itself as “tee-aye”, right? So following that convention it’s probably correctly called “pee-ache”, though I totally get where Manduh is coming from; i think the lower-casedness of the logo also adds to this phenomenon.
Yeah, but why did you think it would be /f/?
PS: Lower case is clever, but if you have a “pee-ache,” you should go to the doctor right away.
I’m not smart enough to continue this conversation, so I’m just going to stop here. It’s been fun, bye.
Does it bug anybody else that one of the girls in the picture is wearing white after labor day? sheesh get some class lady . . . no matter how good her ass looks.
The issue is it is an all white outfit with black socks
