Jambalaya! Mmmm ah gar-on-tee

I was in the pasta aisle at the store and saw chicken helper. I’ve never tried such a thing but since the reason I was in this aisle was to find chicken add-ons anyway, it makes sense to give it a shot. I’ve discovered that it tastes good but isn’t particularly easier than just cooking chicken jambalaya on my own. It doesn’t appear to be fast cooking rice or anything and there doesn’t appear to be any exotic spices in the envelopes. It -is- in a box, which is convenient, but it’s not spectacularly simpler or anything. It probably sort of looks like vomit too which should make Matt happy to have something to comment upon.

Manufactory direck to retail

I hope you can read that on the side of the van. I’m not making this up. Am I just missing something or is this really as stupid as it seems? I’m on my way to more Rifftrax hilarity at Casa de Club S and passed this van right at 6:06. Sometimes life just hands these little gems to me. It would be nice if life handed me a zoom lens for the camera when this sort of thing happens as well.

Rifftrax!

It’s the guys you know and love from MST3K doing the thing they do best, talking amusingly during the movie you’re watching. All you do is start playing their commentary MP3 on your favorite MP3 device and hit play on your DVD at the same time. We’re planning on “Independence Day” tomorrow at Club S’s but today is “The Matrix” here at home. Really, I can’t specify this enough, it’s hilarious. And it only costs $2.99! Very hard to beat this kind of entertainment for less than $3.

Eureka!

I saw a random episode of this show way back in season 1 but it was the middle of the season and I decided this would be a good summer boredom reliever…then I promptly forgot about it. With the reappearance of season 2 recently I’ve caught some of the commercials and it reminded me all over again. I think I’m right. It is a good tier 2 program perfect for summer boredom.

Healthy as far as the eye can see

So I’ve managed to live my entire life without stepping foot in a Trader Joes until today. Now I’m not sure how I managed it. They have a jillion really cool food items. Turkey and chicken sausages. A dozen kinds of humus, coffee, garlic oil, mini pitas, nuts and tofu! It goes on and on. They also very helpfully provide dinner in a box type meals that are all made up and marinated, just add heat. They have these at the grocery store too but I’ve tried them before and the results are less than stellar. The TJ variety makes me want to try it again. It’s a little hippy for my but at least it’s not like Whole Foods or Wild Oats. Those places really give me the creeps.

Alton, you dog

I’m catching up on some “Good Eats” episodes…I want to cook but it’s too late for that today. Maybe tomorrow. Imagine my surprise though when I took this picture and this is the picture I ended up with. It looks so unintentionally dirty. Alton is my hero.

More new TV

I got through the week. I don’t have anything going on tonight and that means I’m watching TV. New TV, none of that old stuff. I’m not working on anything. I’m not going out to dinner or a movie or having to really interact with other people…it’s going to be awesome.
