Familytime! Say hi to Chelsea.
It’s always nice to get surprise visits from family. This is cousin Chelsea on a layover in Vegas for just the day. I headed on down to Boulder City to have dinner with Ma, OGG too. Evidently I should have brought my swimsuit. She’s grilling me about computers at the moment. That’s what’s cool about family. You have a whole bunch of people with different specialties and since they’re family they -have- to help. That’s OK though, she doesn’t realize I’m going to make her pay me back with ballroom dancing lessons some day.
Movies and the curse of Rubik
I’ve gotten bit by a horrible bug. It’s called Rubik’s Cube. I don’t know who Rubik is but he’s a bastard. After screwing around with it for a few days I gave up and looked around on the web for some of the various strategies to solve it. I have come to the conclusion that I hate this thing. Even with the guides it drives me crazy. I am so close and the solution still eludes me. I feel I am nearing my journey, however. What I’m not sure of is if I will ever scramble it up again.
The computer players are hard!
I’ve actually been partially productive today, largely in the realm of laundry. Now I’m playing Mario Party 8 with the roommate who walks as a llama. He unlocked the “very hard” setting when we’re playing the computer characters so we’re giving it a shot. It’s pretty freaking hard. That setting isn’t lying. Still fun though, just really, really hard. I don’t think this weekend was long enough. Can we vote on this or something?
Like they were made for each other
I have done a lot today. Movies, ignoring housework…it’s exhausting. I’m here at the theater with Jeff and Rob for some “Transformers”. I have to say I’m a little worried. It’s still a Michael Bay movie and that says a lot…none of it good. A little popcorn and a Cherry Coke will make it all better. I may stick around for the new “Die Hard” opus afterwards. We’ll see. Sometimes it’s hard to put my butt through too many hours of theater seats. Oh, and that whole PG-13 thing. That’s hard too. I may have to take out a loan of some sort to watch a second movie, though. For a movie, small popcorn and a medium drink to cost each person $20, the same as 3 books and…well, and a lot of other things that last longer and cost $20, there’s something wrong. I’m sure people would disagree but even Saturday matinees are $10 just for the ticket. No wonder people just stay home and put their computers to work to entertain them.
What to watch, what to watch
I have the perfect plan. It involves my chair, this projector screen and a vast array of watchables. This evening I am going to be entertained.
Finally getting to Battlestar
I’m not exactly sure why but I tend to leave watching “Battlestar” until the summer when normal television has dried up. Normally I save marginal shows for the summer. This is about the only one that’s actually good that I save up like this. I may get around to watching “The Office” too. This is, more or less, my plan for the day. It isn’t exactly the most exciting 4th of July but it is exactly what I want to do and have been doing since 9AM.
Well this sucks
Manduh’s contract is up so she’s eligible for a new cell phone. She wanted my help picking one out so here we are at Verizon. The problem, the BIG problem, is that she now has a phone that I really, really wish I had. That’s messed up. It’s just like my phone but it has a full keyboard which makes it extra special and cool. Oh, I am just about paralyzed with envy. Expect a lot of messages from Manduh in the near future now that she can type so easily. I’m sorry, everyone, really sorry.
