Aaahh PTs. Always a joy.

Good whiskey, good friends…well, co-workers I can tolerate anyway, good times. It’s a nice way to spend an evening after work. It was necessary. I’m not working nearly as much as I was previously but I’m having to juggle a lot more now so it feels about the same. I’m getting more used to it though. I’m not sure that’s good or bad though.

Yaaaaahhh!

I don’t know if you can tell from the picture but we are three, count them, three rows from the stage. I’ve waited 2 decades for this and it is so worth it.

I’m gonna need this

I’m going to the “Weird Al” concert later on tonight and I’m dying. I was sitting in my car waiting for Don to grab some pre-concert dinner and I was falling asleep. This is no good. I have to stay awake for every second of tonights experience. The careful path I have to follow is to drink enough coffee to stay awake but not so much I have to hit the bathroom every 10 minutes during the show…it’s a fine line.

Zelda as it’s always been in our heads

The Llama’s been playing Zelda – Twilight Princess on the Wii. It’s pretty cool actually. You use the controllers kinda like a sword and shield in battle and as more normal controls the rest of the time. It’s just great to see it in fully realized color and 3D. I don’t know about everyone else but I’ve been going back and playing some of the really old NES games and it’s amazing how much better I remember them looking in my head than what they looked like in reality. I keep thinking there’s something wrong with the game and there isn’t. It just looks like crap and has always looked like crap. I fear we aren’t stretching kids imaginations enough these days with the video games that they play.

Aaahh…movies

It there anything more sublime that kicking back after a long days work and enjoying a movie? We’re watching “Ocean’s 11″ as one of us hasn’t seen it yet and I didn’t want to put on a movie that was going to take a lot of mental involvement a la “The Machinist” or “11:14″. I have some work to do tonight but for these 2 hours I’m switching off and watching the antics of Danny Ocean and his friends.

Working weekend

I was planning on working some this weekend and there is just nothing more irritating than surprise work popping up when you’re planning other work. Crap broke so we’re fixing it and watching “Bourne Supremacy”. This is for edification on the Llama’s part as he has never seen these movies. As you can see, he has tested out the new couch thoroughly and found it acceptable. For a cheap couch I am very happy with it.

Manduh, Manduh, Manduh

Manduh’s in town, as she is so often, for work. She and Ma helped me shop for some pillows because Linens and Things blows my circuits. Who knew there were so many kinds of…things. In addition to your standards like sheets, blankets and towels we have duvets (which is different than a blanket), duvet covers, pillow shams (which is different than a pillowcase…ow), bed skirts (if I put a bed skirt on a male bed does it make it gay or Scottish) and about a jillion other inexplicable items. A lot of these seemed to be things to protect other things. Pillowcases make sense, they keep an unwashable item (a pillow) clean. A pillow sham appears to keep a pillow case clean. I think. Or maybe it’s protecting it from the sun or something. This is why I needed help. Luckily we are now enjoying dinner and my blood pressure has achieved reasonable levels once again. Hopefully I won’t have to do this again for a few years.
