God bless the Brits
Something about the British, they know how to make a good movie. Maybe just because it’s something a little different than we would normally see. Regardless, it’s nice to see something different. We (in the US) tend to churn out a lot of movies that are amazingly similar and formulaic. Something different doesn’t always seem to go over very well unfortunately. The list of great movies that just tanked at the box office is vast. If we can just do something about the sticky floors and unrequested sodomy at the popcorn stand, it might be nice to go see movies in the theater again.
It’s taking all my money!
So I was hoping for a relaxing dinner out instead of cooking tonight and this machine just isn’t facilitating that whatsoever. I’ve been cooking a lot lately and just couldn’t handle breaking out the pots or pans again. Mostly, last weeks long week has extended into this week it seems. I just have so much to keep track of right now that I’m getting a little frazzled. I’m going to work very hard to get some stuff finished so I can get a little breathing room. But not tonight. Tonight I need some relax…and this damn machine…-sigh- I think I’ll just sit back and enjoy my dinner and watch the TV…which is playing BASEBALL?! God hates me
A scary ghost!
There was a scary waiter ghost behind Alex but we protected him. I’m definitely making this a theme. Let’s all take a moment to honor whatsisface, the original waiter sake ghost.
He gets this for making fun of my typing
We have a tiny wireless keyboard/mouse combo keyboard (pictured and described in the keyboard opus post before) attached to the media center PC. It’s small, it’s convenient…it sucks. It doesn’t really facilitate touch typing in the dark. I’m forever typing, backspace, type, backspace, misspell, curse, flail, backspace, cry. My roommate finds this quite amusing and laughs at me endlessly while this is going on. Today he happened to do it right at 6:06 and therefore he’s getting shown here partially against his will. Revenge is mine. Face the light and burn!
606 bonus! Look at the married guys
Thanks to Mike for noticing the scene pictured and coming up with the line used above in the subject line.
Tequila time!
It didn’t really seem like a long week until we got over here and it was such a relief to not be at work. Someone suggested tequila so here we are. Unfortunately we had a guest photographer. The Cheese, though an excellent boss, is not the best cell phone photographer. I guess he doesn’t have the experience that I do. It’s a pretty good picture regardless and I got to show off my new 606diaries business cards to all the new people in this shot. I’m not really sure why the Llama’s hand is the only thing in focus.
Attempt at a new remote
My trusty Sony universal remote is starting to give up the ghost after 5 years of loyal use. I looked around and decided that a Marantz or a Pronto at $600-$1000 was just stupid so I went with a much more reasonably priced alternative and got a Harmony. Ma got one of these a few years ago and though, at the time, it was a major pain in the butt to set up and get configured, it did work very nicely once configured. 2 years after that initial model, I got the more modern edition and it’s basically the same. Major pain to get working, but now that it’s tweaked, it’s good. My biggest problem is that I know what it’s doing inside the remote. It’s like a tiny computer. Being forced to use their lame interface just kills me because I just want to get in and program it which, for me, would take far less time than going through all their wizards to do the same damn thing. Sometimes it’s complicated being me.
