Sigh…Work again
It is official. I’m not getting the new apartment. I’m just going to move into the office. I see it way more than my apartment anyway. I really, really had to pack today too. This is going to be a problem with my weekend deadline for moving. It really sucks because there’s no one to blame. Something really important came up and it’s really no one’s fault. I can’t rage at anyone for not doing their job so I have no outlet. Weak. Oh well, back to it.
Typo king!
Actually that’s not really fair to Jeff. The tech amongst us know how it goes. You’ll be in the middle of a problem. Then someone will say they’ve fixed it…and you’ll test, and it’s still broken. Then you rage for a bit at the incompetency of your fellow man. Then you’ll ask them to re-check their “fix”. And it’s still broken. Rage, check, rage, double, triple, septuple-check…and then you realize that in all the hurry, you added an extra “r” to the end of your password which you’ve just been SEEing but not READing for the last 15 minutes. That’s what Jeff went through for the last little bit. Luckily he has just fixed the problem and now gets to go home. I hope he goes home and blogs because he really does have a way of writing that I aspire to. I still have to stay till the bitter end. We’re having a bit of a fire drill at work. Somehow I got the unenviable task of taking ownership to make sure everything gets taken care of. This is really John’s fault. You saw him last Friday on this very blog. Every time he decides to go out of town the most unbelievable crap happens and I get stuck with it. I’m not sure exactly how it happens, but it does. Next time he says he has a vacation coming up I’m going to break his leg so he has to stick around. That’s the sort of injury that will keep him in town but not totally bedridden.
The llama and the cat
Work, work, work. At least I’m not actually glued to the office right now. I’m at the Llama’s place marveling at the contortions the cat is getting into to just to be near him. We’re going to finish up the work we have to do and hopefully manage to squeeze in some more “Lost” tonight. I could use some downtime and “Lost” would be just the ticket.
Trying something new
John has impressed me with this music service called Rhapsody. It’s kind of like iTunes but doesn’t require that crappy software. It allows me to listen to stuff on demand for a small monthly fee. I can’t burn the tracks with the monthly account but I can listen to it whenever I want and that seems pretty cool. I figure I’ll try it out for a month or so and see how I like it. It’s the first time I’ve seen a music service that didn’t make me angry so I have high hopes. I fear that if it sucks I’m going to get very upset at them for getting my hopes up.
Waiting…Watching Idiocracy
We have some time to kill. Justin’s surprise 30th birthday party is happening tonight but we have to show up just a little bit later than everyone else. To that end we are watching the beginning of “Idiocracy” because I think Justin will really like it, and if I give him a little taste he’ll be hooked. Then these two are sitting on the couch in the perfect pose for the watching of a movie called “Idiocracy”. It’s not even posed…how cool is that?
New faces for the crowd
This is Nita and John Y. Nita is a new programmer to the office and an active blogger. John is a manager and can barely tie his shoes, let alone figure out how to blog…this is why he’s in management. He’s a great manager though so it works out well and it’s nice that I can poke fun at him thusly. I missed last weeks work outing to the bar so I figured I had to make an appearance today. We don’t want to get back to the part where the corporate side of the building had taken over the whole bar. Plus it’s nice that we have so many new people to hang out with and enjoy. The rest of us have heard all of each others stories a million times and are frankly tired of it. I’m very happy that Nita came out tonight…even if she is now leaving to go home and play…-sigh-…UT2k4. Don’t judge her for it though. We all have our odd little hobbies. You should have heard what she had to say about my chainmail…ouch.
Edit: OK so I suck sometimes. I put a link to Nita’s blog up there and then just totally forgot how to make a link. Whoops! That’s embarrassing.
Argh…the sun!
Driving west at 6:06PM is just about the dumbest thing ever. It’s the Ides of March which means IT’S JUSTIN’S BIRTHDAY!!! Whee! We’re going to this Indian place for dinner up by his place and then afterwards we’re going to Lewis Black at the MGM! That part’s very exciting. The best part is that he doesn’t even know it’s happening. Jessi’s giving him his tickets at dinner and we’ve been keeping the fact that we all have tickets as well a secret for 2 months. Hopefully it all turns out well…I love secrets.
