Yipes…
Manda’s getting on an airplane to Oakland so we’re dining and killing time until she has to leave. In this picture you can witness a newer, smoother Alex. As you can see, not everyone is a fan.
Pics and music
I’m rocking out to the Weird Al and annotating pictures. It takes a long damn time to get through almost 500 pics. Luckily I got major tunes to help me through it. I love Wikipedia. It enhances the listening experience so much.
I’ve been so lazy about this site
The whole crew got together at the illustrious Applebees after work…and I took 3 days to post it. I’ve been really bad lately. I’m not really spacing out on it, it’s just been really weird about what’s been going on at 6:06. This week I will try my hardest to get a post every day, promise.
Bonus pic!
I have spread the joy of the mojito. I’m at dinner with Jen and Caroline. Jen made plans very late so it’s a small intimate dinner instead of a media event. That might come later this weekend. I’m not sure what’s going on in this picture but it made for good photography.
So many pictures
I am trying to organize vacation pictures and we have sooo many. The big problem is that I had everything organized by day and rotated the right way and then had a rampant resizing accident and screwed everything up and had to start over. This is why we always work with copies, kids. I have to leave this now though because I’m on my way to dinner. Caroline is in town from NC for a couple weeks so I’m meeting her and Jen for dinner way way WAY out in Summerlin. It’s a drive but I’ll probably survive it.
My favorite channel
I love HBO. It’s the best $12/mo you can spend on your TV watching experience. Tied for the best $12/mo is getting a Tivo but that’s not what this post is about. Most TV is kind of vacuous nonsense. I’m all for entertainment but if the creators of television were alive today, they would cry at the state of their invention. HBO changes that. Not all their shows are good, some are fantastic. Deadwood, Sopranos (for a while), Six Feet Under (for a while), The Wire, Entrouge, Arli$$. All really good to fantastic shows. Then there’s the HBO special films that they make. Those have been universaly awesome and never disappoint. I think that the creators of television would be proud.
Let us all keep these guys in mind as we watch TV every week. I bring you the TV pioneers.
Willoughby Smith, Paul Nipkow, Boris Rosing and his student Vladimir Kosma Zworykin, John Logie Baird, Charles Francis Jenkins, Alan Archibald Campbell-Swintonv, Vladimir Zworykin, Isaac Shoenburg
Yes, I use it
Putting it away is the problem. I also have come to the realization that I suck at ironing. I’m seriously going to have to get another lesson from Ma. It’s been a long time since the last one and I have forgotten much. There is absolutely nothing on TV today so I gave up a while ago and have spent the rest of the day on reading all the books I didn’t get to on the cruise. I love chain reading. Finish a book, get a glass of water, start the next book. What a glorious way to spend a Sunday.
