A night off from reading
I’m still getting bits here and there from my Amazon extraveganza and it all came in on the same day and wham…there went my mail, turned off again. In a new record time of 2 days. The post office had a couple books and the aparment office had a couple DVDs and a book. Faced with all this entertainment, I’m taking the night off of “A Certain Kind of Chemistry” and watching “Swimming Pool”. It’s another french movie that has been recommended to me multiple times but I finally picked it up. It’s interesting so far but, in that french way, it hasn’t really gotten to the point yet.
Killing time till Prison Break
And so the new season of tv begins. For the first time in a long time I find myself actualy needing to make some sort of a map to make sure I don’t have any overlapping shows. Discounting any new shows I have “Lost”, “Veronica Mars”, “Prison Break”, “My Name is Earl”, “Scrubs”, “House”, “Greys Anatomy” and the Stargates SG-1 and Atlantis. The only new show I know I want to check out is “Heroes”. other than that I’ll just wait to see if anything rises up out of the Fall lineup morass. The only new show I know of last season that did that was “Prison Break”. I’m sure others will disagree with me but lots and lots of others have really crappy taste in TV.
I must be mental
I was falling asleep a little so in Barstow, on the way back, we switched and I let Matt drive the rest of the way home. That’s not the mental part. Taking a picture while Matt was driving, distracting him while he’s driving my nice new car, that was the “I must be mental” part. Soon we will be home though and I’ll get some real sleep.
Team Voltron Assemble!
After a successful gamenight there’s only one thing to do…breakfast at Swingers. We’re visiting Manduh for the weekend. Club S was coming for something anyway so Matt and I tagged along for the ride. We saw “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels” and had gamenight last night. Sara, Jen, Mariko, Chris and Sona in addition to Team Voltron makes a very tight fit in Manduhs apartment. We learned new games (drunk driver, the name game), had good drinks (beer, sangria, vodka tonics), and met new people (all those people who’s names I undoubtedly mangled earlier). Thanks for putting us up for the weekend Manduh!
MOVE!!!
This has not been a good driving day. I’m working on wasting 3 times the amount of time 2 trips should have taken all due to accident’s at or near the freeway during rush hour. I hit one both directions. Why can’t people just not wreck so much? Or at least be nice and do it during the off hours. I’m tired of looking at the ass end of this car in front of me with its brakelights on.
Books and more books
Still on the reading kick. I read a book a couple months ago called “Love Monkey” that I like quite a lot and in the back he gave a list of the books that he liked or most shaped his book or were most like his style…it was a while ago I can’t remember the details. Wow, that was a run-on. There’s a style of literature known as chick-lit, this new style I learned about in “Love Monkey” would be the male equivalent. Kind of a neurotic beta-male comedy and relationships kinda thing. Anyway, I put all those books on my wishlist and they got scooped up in my Amazon spree last week. This is the first of that recommend list, 3 chapters in, it’s a good reco. We’ll see if it maintains. I think it will.
The big M
I’m having dinner with Matt. We’re meeting up to trade comics and computer parts. It is odd just the two of us having dinner. There’s so many missing people.
