Cheese it! It’s the fuzz!
Just as I pulled up to my place tonight this cop car stopped just outside my balcony and just sat there. For almost an hour. I have no idea what they were doing. They didn’t park, they didn’t chase anyone or get out of the car. I have no clue what they were doing there. It was very odd.
What is going to happen?!
I’m not sure where they are going with this Tony in the hospital thing in “The Sopranos” but a sick part of me wants him to die and have the rest of the season nothing but the fallout as everyone scrambles to maintain control of the family. That would certainly put an end to HBO and the “This is the last season…no wait…this one is…just kidding, one more” thing.
Dinner and chair shopping
I went and purchased “The Throne”. It makes me very happy but it can’t get to my place till Thursday and that sucks. I feel so grown up buying my very first furniture ever (the bed and box spring don’t really count). Now we are off to Red Robin for victory burgers!
A Robert Rodriguez weekend.
I got “El Mariachi”, “Desperado”, “Once Upon a Time in Mexico” and “Sin City” last week. I’m not feeling so good today so I’m sitting her watching the Mariachi trilogy. I watched each movie twice, once normal, once with directors commentary. I like Rodriguez not just for his movies, which I find quite enjoyable, but the way he explains how he makes his movies and how he is always pushing the edge of movie for the money. He made Mariachi for $7K, Desperado for $7M and Once Upon a Time in Mexico for $29M. The shooting schedules and budgets for each were very small for what they are, big summer action movies. He’s very big on keeping the money low which forces him to solve his problems creatively instead of just throwing money at them. He’s also very proactive about using new technologies for movies which of course I love. Technology is cool. He learned how to shoot in HD with no film from George Lucas and has been spreading the gospel ever since. Anyway, much like Kevin Smith or Terry Gilliam, the directors commentaries alone are worth the cost of the DVD, especially for anyone who is interested in the movie making process.
It’s not 606, it’s 666! Suite 666 that is.
We just found out today that Nick is moving to North Carolina on Monday. He hasn’t worked for us for a month but I did work with him for 3 years so it’s a little distressing. We decided to make it better by throwing an impromptu going away party. He came all the way across town and we had a great time. Georges band, Suite 666 was playing at the Double Down so we went over there till they were done around 1:30 and Nick was sober enough to drive home. I love that bar, it’s always such a weird scene and no one seems to care that I’m basicaly a tourist in it. Sorry for the blurriness of the picture. Blame Georges phone-shaking power bass. I think I’m still rattling from it.
Mystery Ta-tas
There’s nothing like this to brighten up a really crappy day. They’re magical! I’m staying late helping out at work instead of going home and reading again. I’m back on a reading kick. With the exception of Harry Potter the other day, I haven’t turned on the TV in over a week. It’s fun but it wrecks my sleep schedule because I’m always trying to finish just one more chapter, which always ends in such a way that now I have to read the -next- chapter. It’s a vicious cycle.
The chaos that is my desk
I’m stuck at work doing some last minute programming for tomorrow. When the alarm went off I picked it up from this particular corner of my desk and decided it was artisticaly interesting enough for a picture. It’s just about time to clean it up. I’m starting to get strata. Really what I need to do is move the windows monitor to this side but that takes a lot of work and stuff and I’m too lazy right now.
