Boom.
Yes, it is true. I finally got a new car. It’s an ’06 Acrua TL and it is wonderful. Blinky (The Focus) has served me well for many years but it is time to get a grown up car. I’m even back to 4 doors. I prefer the look of a coupe but in practice I just need easy access to the back seat too often. Either hauling people or stuff around. The backseat is actualy quite roomy as well. The ultimate test will be to replicate the Strawberry Festival configuration of Club S and the Sibs all in the car at the same time. Now of course comes the fun of getting the Focus detailed and sold, quickly. Two car payments would suck bad.
It’s New Years Eve Eve!
I’m at a New Years Eve Eve party. There was a countdown and everything and everyone screamed “Happy New Years Eve!”. Evidently this guy throws this every year. It’s kind of a cool idea. People tend to have plans on Nears Eve but the day before, everyones free. This isn’t actualy a 6:06 post. I was watching “Oscar” with Donald and the pizza guy came just as the alarm went off. In all the meaty cheesy breadsticky excitement I forgot the 6:06 thing. I don’t want to hear any disparaging remarks about “Oscar”. That movie rocks and if you don’t like it you must be a communist.
Kong!
It is the day after Christmas and the sibs, Club S and I (along with half of Vegas) went to the movies. We decided to see King Kong. After some light naysaying by Alex I was a little hesitant to get too excited about it. Now that we have seen it I would whole heartedly recommend it. It is rated PG-13 for a reason though so keep that in mind if you have kids. It reminds me of a description I heard of “The Passion” once “Y’know that movie where they beat the crap out of Jesus for 2 hours”…”King Kong” was kinda like that. They beat the hell out of that big monkey. In a very tasteful and realistic way unfortunately, unfortunately because I really believe that the movie would be a realistic depiction of what would happen if that sort of thing really happened in real life. I would like to say that they were less enlightened in the 30′s than we are now but I think that’s not really true. Anyway, great movie, go see it. Make sure you block out 3 Hrs 7 Min for it though, in typical Peter Jackson fashion he doesn’t rush his movie….I love that guy.
We didn’t get enough trivia yesterday
Chrismas Day! We spent the day doing Christmas things. We opened presents, Mom cooked a massive Christmas dinner, cleaned up and decided to hit up some more trivia. This one is all about the 80′s. Since I was only 5-15 during the 80′s I’m not very good at this one either. Matt, Manduh and Alex were even younger allthough Matt and Alex do spend a lot of time watching show like “I Love the 80′s” so they got a better grip than I do. Dad also played and if he hadn’t spent the 80′s working out of the country, or just working period, and spent more time vegging out and absorbing the 80′s he would have tore that game up. Alas it was not to be. Alex won and Dad dropped out as me and the sibs battled for “not last place”. Matt came in 2nd followed by Manduh and then me, dead last. I stand with my earlier stance, let’s play some real trivia and see what happens.
Trivial pursuit to the death!
Pop Culture Trivia (the DVD edition) is the bane of my existance. I much prefer the standard kind of Trivial Pursuit since it fits my knowlege base better but no one will play that with me. Mom and Dad are particularly bad at it. They have no pop culture reference base whatsoever. Either way it was a lot of fun with the whole family + Club S for a nice Christmas eve.
Sky Captain and the world of green screen
So I finally got to see this movie and I can’t see why everyone was so down on it. I liked it. It’s a totaly throwback to every 50′s sci-fi comic ever. Maybe I’m just a big fanboy in that respect but so be it. The scene where the robots go flying over and into the city was worth the price of admission alone.
Finger lickin’ good
I have a need for chicken. The drive home with KFC in the car seems to take 10 times longer than it really does. It’s impossible to eat KFC in the car though so you have to tough it out and wait to get home. I kinda had a hankering for Long John SIlvers but they closed the drive through down and I had to think fast. My desire for hushpuppies was crushed but a new desire for mashed potatoes popped up.
