The second in a series
I’m sitting home tonight, watching and encoding comedy to the computer for posterity. I found some new methods and software to pull shows off the tivo and this is my first large scale test. I took this picture of Caroline Rhea at the precise moment she was talking about and demonstrating a certain subject. Somewhere else in the 606 archives is another picture of a comic, taken on the big screen talking about and demonstrating the same subject. It’s a treasure hunt of a sort.
The best show on the Discovery Channel
The I’m speaking of is Mythbusters. Adam, Jaime, Kari, Tory and Grant debunk our most widely held myths on a weekly basis. The best part about it is that not a one of them has any sort of realistic training. They aren’t intellectuals. They just discover things by inferring a lot of things and muddling their way through. More like geeks than scientists. I love this show because the things they do and the way they solve things are how I would solve things. Regardless of how many times I hear “Don’t do this at home” I always want to try this stuff at home. A very dangerous show to have access to.
It’s almost stapler time
I was cooking yesterday and cleaning up and my trash is now out of control. I’ll take it out later though as I dont’ have the energy to deal at the moment. At least it hasn’t started to smell. Well, maybe. I haven’t actualy lifted the lid in a while. It’s Saturday and I’m feeling very lazy though.
Dude, I was on the beach
Time for some Lost. The show is getting good. It took a while to get some story going but they’ve finally started some stuff. I don’t mind a slow moving story though. Some people get annoyed but I’m perfectly willing to let the story unfold at a comfortable pace. After this I got some reading to do. Time for some more “Feast for Crows”. I’m going to tear through that book with a vengance this weekend.
Jason Lee, you’re my hero
“My Name is Earl” is the funniest show on TV this season. I was terrified that this show was going to get cancelled but evidently it’s doing quite well, which is surprising because they usually cancel the quirky different shows that I like. Anyone remember “The Tick” (live action, not the cartoon), Clerks (the cartoon), Futurama, Firefly…the list goes on and on. Yet Friends and Seinfeld were on for like a million seasons. TV isn’t fair.
Let the ADD run free -OR- Now that’s what I call multitasking
I’m playing with my new wireless speakers, making the iWood do something useful involving a wireless card and some creative software, ripping some of my CD’s to mp3 since I lost all my old mp3′s in the crash, converting some newer stuff from OGG and MPC to mp3 and taking this picture. It was a good evening.
No, they’re not retarded…but that would explain a lot
Manduh’s flying back home tonight so we’re meeting up for dinner at Chili’s before she has to go to the airport. Matt and Alex, the camera whores that they are, just had to be tonights picture. It -is- a good picture. Matt sold me his mini-itx motherboard and I can’t wait to get home to play with it tonight. I think I’m going to turn it into a network play box. Those who care can look up theTroppix linux distro and see what I mean.
