More bookisms

I’m sitting here reading, waiting for Don to get off the phone so we can get some dinner. This is the first book I’ve read by Sarah Vowell. Some of you may know her from “This American Life” on NPR but the rest will surely know her as Violet from “The Incredibles”. Regardless, she’s a very talented commentator slash writer who writes just like she talks on the radio. Totally worth a read.

Reading again

My stack of books has been growing steadily as I keep getting books but not reading them. Evil TV is cutting into my book time. With summer here and nothing downloaded to watch it’s back to the books. This is Chuck Palahniuks newest. I’ve been a fan since Fight Club and I have really enjoyed his work and the way it has progressed since then. This book has an odd format, a bunch of writers telling stories. So it has an overall story about the writers as a group and then the rest of the book is all short stories. It’s a great format.

What a wreck

Justin and I are going through his bottle of jägermeister and watching car racing. This is a picture of a spectacular wreck. Not that that’s a reason to watch but there you go.

Phone debugging

Dinner with the family. G-ma made the mistake of saying she didn’t know how to check her voicemail and here we are, 20 minutes later, still working on it. After this I’m going to go home and revel in the cleanliness and read a book. Bliss…

These pipes are clean!

I’m helping Don with some computer stuff and we got some pizza goodness to go with it. The big thing to notice is the cleanliness of the apartment. 5 hours of scrubby dusty vacuumy flushy and it’s beautiful. I should have done this ages ago.

More movies

I got some good movies yesterday, so today I see what Target has to offer. I was hoping for Kill Bill I & II but they couldn’t supply it. I’ll try “Swimming with Sharks” and “Badder Santa” instead. I’m also getting cleaning supplies for the cleaning extraveganza tomorrow, for tomorrow my apartment gets clean.

800 movies and nothing to watch

Well maybe not 800 but a bunch. There’s only one thing to do…Blockbuster buy 2 get 1 free on previously viewed movies. It’s easier than filling out the rental application. I’ll have to hope for the best. Last time I did this I ended up with “The Day After Tomorrow”…not good.
